Fascination for biobased building
Entrepreneurship is a personal journey, but you don't have to face it alone. That's why our future-makers regularly share their entrepreneurial stories to inspire and share knowledge. After all, together you grow faster than alone. This time the story of Marc Postel, building technology expert and pioneer in biobased building.

'My entrepreneurial journey began with a fascination for biobased building during my studies in building technology at TU Delft. The rise of the circular economy and the urgent need for sustainability motivated me to delve into this. With my company Fairm, I develop completely natural insulation materials. Few people know that construction is responsible for 38% of all CO2 emissions. For example, we now often use more material to consume less energy. That can be done differently. We need a different way of building.'
'Biobased material stores CO2, resulting in a better ecological footprint compared to other materials. It enables building with a positive footprint and is also easier to recycle and reuse circularly. I am currently researching how to optimize the chain of fiber streams and working on product development and strategies for alternatives. From Fairm, I also advise on biobased construction and help others explore the playing field.'
'At New Future Lab, I found a vibrant and open community that motivates me to get started. The atmosphere there is pleasant and it is a place where like-minded people come together to make an impact and make the world a better place. Even though everyone is working on different things, we feel familiar with each other.'
'To anyone at the beginning of their entrepreneurial journey: make commitments to yourself. In the rush of entrepreneurship, it is important to create moments of reflection. As an entrepreneur, you are responsible for your own growth and it is good to build in mechanisms to look critically and honestly at yourself and your business. This helps you continue to see all the positive aspects that you might otherwise take for granted. It's a way to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself and your business.'
