Never too old for a party: students and seniors together in Delft

A sandwich party to start with

The day started at the Station House, where students and seniors joined together for a sumptuous lunch. It became a real sandwich party: simple delicacies that took on a festive connotation as a result of being together. For many it was an opportunity to get to know each other better and exchange stories about study, work, travels or memories from Delft.

Bingo full of energy and fun

After lunch, the room erupted during a fanatical game of bingo. Where the elders brought their experience, the students brought enthusiasm and energy. People laughed, cheered and joined in fanatically. The game proved to be a great way to bridge differences and, above all, celebrate similarities: the joy of doing something together.

Part of a broader social day

The party was part of the DSC's annual social day, where all the new members scattered throughout Delft participate in groups in a variety of projects from cleaning up the city to supporting local initiatives. "It's a regular part of our induction period," says Ties Brink, incoming president of the DSC Senate. "This allows prospective members to immediately feel part of the city and step out of their bubble."

Connection between generations

What made the day so special was the connection that visibly emerged. Students and seniors - at first glance perhaps an unexpected combination turned out to be able to mean a lot to each other.

A successful day with a sequel

The atmosphere, conversations and fun made Never too old for a party a great success. For students and seniors alike, it tasted like more. And if it is up to us, we will definitely do this again soon. Because celebrating together, laughing and connecting, you're never too old for that.
