As of July 1, 2025, New Future Lab has fully handed over the baton to 015 Sustainable as the initiator of the WIJcafé. After a period of over a year of building, connecting and learning, we look back with pride on what we have achieved together.

On Sept. 8, New Future Lab will open a shared store in De Hoven: a mix of concept store, meeting place and workspace. Local makers and start-ups can sell their products or offer services there. Participation is free and you get help starting your business.

A key exchange with residents, a bar full of fragrant soups made by neighbors and a shared sense of pride: the Stationshuis in Delft-West was officially opened. "Delft didn't have its own gin yet" - with that simple observation, TU Delft student Joris Kooijman began an entrepreneurial journey that took him from idea to success in six months. The result? Delft Blue Gin, a true ode to the city of Delft.

Kickstart Lab, based in Delft's dynamic Cable District, has reached an important milestone by receiving a grant worth 457,380 euros from the Metropoolregio Rotterdam Den Haag (MRDH). This financial contribution will enable the organization to strengthen its mission - to support young entrepreneurs and students and thereby improve the connection between education and the labor market - over the next three years.

"Education faces great challenges, especially in the area of technology and BETA subjects. We saw that as an opportunity to contribute something," says Mick (26), co-founder of NUVO. Together with Bas (27) and two other students, he started NUVO over three and a half years ago with a mission: to use engineering students to innovate education and inspire students. What began as a small initiative has since grown into an organization with impact, creative collaborations, and a clear vision: making technology accessible to everyone in education.

We look back on a successful first edition of our meetup: creative drivers of social progress. With a mixed group of (social) designers, researchers and policy makers, we explored the theme of collaboration between the creative industry, government, education and business.

Last Thursday, girls from Laurentius De Praktijkschool joined us for a company visit. The visit is part of the national Girls' Day: an initiative by VHTO for girls aged 10 to 15 with the goal of getting girls interested in STEM, engineering and IT at a young age.

Last Thursday, the first-ever breakfast session for digital inclusion took place at New Future Lab. A breakfast focused on collaboration. The question at the center this time was: how can we connect digital inclusion initiatives in Delft?

Learning about your smartphone and tablet is getting easier and more fun. At least, that's the promise of startup DigiHandig, which is launching a brand new app today. The app is available for free for every smartphone and tablet starting today. People can install the app themselves, but the DigiHandig team is also explicitly calling on family members and volunteers to help someone close to them install it. "With five minutes of your time, you give someone the gift of the digital world," says Kristel Thieme, instigator of DigiHandig.

Many young SMEs do not yet have safety and health sufficiently on the agenda. The result is a lack of awareness of the risks that can arise in the workplace. With a unique experience, the New Future Lab is putting occupational risks back on the map in small and medium-sized enterprises. We are doing this in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. In the coming weeks, the experience will tour various business centers in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague.
